Greater Blue Mountains Heritage Area

Part of Australia’s Great Dividing Range, the Heritage-listed Blue Mountains are a giant plateau that that rises up to 1,100 meters above sea level. The geology of the park is dominated by mammoth sandstone walls that rise from the forested valleys below. More than 140 kilometres of walking trails traverse the area with some of the most spectacular walks featuring steep descents into Jamison or Grose valleys from the top of the escarpment. Not surprisingly, Blue Mountains are home to some of the tallest waterfalls in NSW and abundant wildlife.
