Arthur River is remote with a small general store if you are not well provisioned before you arrive so buy up at one of other bigger towns. The boat cruise up the Arthur River is worth the trip and if you are a keen fisherman I'm told by the tour operators that you can catch Salmon-Trout on the seaward side of the bridge so bring a rod. The log-strewn, wind-swept beach is a real experience to walk and recommended. Sunset Holiday Villas is situated one row back from the beach on a rise and has great views over the river and beach. Cabin is spacious and clean and on-site parking for two cars on your cabin side. (There are two cabins side by side)

It was easy to get around Arthur River but if you want to eat out you need to travel up the road to Murrawah for dinner. Only 15minutes away so no problem. Close to the beach and a lovely spot to visit.

We did the Red boat Arthur river cruise.

We did the Red boat Arthur river cruise. The staff were amazing, friendly and informative. We had a wonderful day on the river with a delicious bbq lunch with home made salads and fruit cake. Arthur's River is a lovely unusual place to visit. Windy and wild but beautiful.

We were there for the Takayna ultramarathon so didn’t spend much time in Arthur River per se. But we would have liked to. Scenically spectacular and I loved the continuous sound of the Southern Ocean rollers on the shore.

A lovely little Hamlet named after the river itself.

A lovely little Hamlet named after the river itself. Situated at the river mouth on the isolated north-west coast of Tasmania. There is plenty of cottage type accommodation available and is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of holiday resorts.

    Arthur River exceeded my expectations.

Arthur River exceeded my expectations. I expected something more run down but it is quite a smart looking village hugging the river. While there are no cafes etc, it is in a remote area and any development would start to spoil it. You can buy a coffee, ice creams, drinks, ice, fast food takeaway and basic provisions so all basic needs can be met. The boat trip on the Reflections was very enjoyable as were the walks we did and the Tarkine Drive. When you see it you understand why we have to take good care of it.
